Bexar County Clerk Candidate affirms support for Marriage Equality
San Antonio Texas - Nearly ten years after same-sex couples were granted marriage equality by the United States Supreme Court, former Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis is now asking the Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges, citing religious and First Amendment rights.

“Marriage equality is settled law, and it has made our nation fairer, freer, and stronger,” stated Mari Sanchez Belew. “This isn’t about protecting religious freedom. It’s about legalizing discrimination and stripping away the rights of millions of LGBTQ+ Americans. The Bexar County Clerk is responsible for issuing marriage licenses without prejudice or discrimination. I am committed to standing firm in defending marriage equality because no one, least of all a public official, has the right to deny people the dignity and protection of marriage simply because of who they love.”
